What I’m saying to you now is just another way to behave in the crowd to be accepted I’ve always wanted to be part of a mob because I wanna feel the unity of the herd What’s paramount now is that I’m never left out and I wanna be well-regarded You call me fake, but I’m just a guy doing what it takes to survive in this shallow world So nowadays... I never care about my own thoughts Sometimes I wonder if I have even lost the ability to think ’Cause the only thing that matters Is what other people say and what they think of me In this superficial society I only want to look good and I would never risk being misunderstood I don’t wanna feel excluded It’s all about a mentality, working as a key to unlock the unconscious mind I censor myself and you should do that too if you wanna be safe and feel included No matter what you feel deep inside, it’s never right, ’cause it’s the other view that counts So nowadays... I never care about my own thoughts Sometimes I wonder if I have even lost the ability to think ’Cause the only thing that matters Is what other people say and what they think of me In this superficial society The world is cold and shallow People are bold yet narrow I never care about my own thoughts Sometimes I wonder if I have even lost the ability to think ’Cause the only thing that matters Is what other people say and what they think of me In this superficial society Baby, what do you think of me?

You don’t believe in You don’t believe in anything but wrong or right Because you’re living Because you’re living in a world that’s black and white But it’s only in your head where you get lost You get lost in dichotomy thoughts You never question You never question anything your best friend does It’s an obsession It’s an obsession of your deep rooted bias But it’s only in your head where you get lost And these crazy concepts tie you up in knots You get lost in dichotomy thoughts It’s just another fallacy A false dilemma that you believe And I guess you’ll never change your spots You’re forever lost in dichotomy thoughts You don’t believe in You don’t believe in anything but wrong or right Because you’re living Because you’re living in a world that’s black and white But it’s only in your head where you get lost And these crazy concepts tie you up in knots Yeah it’s only in your head where you get lost Lost in dichotomy thoughts

I gotta get up in the morning Just to get done with every single thing I don’t want to do My work is to work for others My own zeals are second hand My zeals are second hand every day I gotta go and participate in every morality play Where I’m a walk-on forever So I follow the script and the rules ’Cause I don’t wanna be a fool I’d rather go around and spend all my time With an easygoing style and a peace of mind Just follow my heart with every step I take This feeling in my gut will show where to go every day When I’ve become a slave to my passions And I’ll be OK I gotta be good and allegiant To the commandments and to what I am expected to do Responsible and obedient ’Cause I need some basic structure We all need basic structure to live So I go to the closet and change to fit in with this masquerade But maybe I’m uninvited I know that this is not a simple test It’s for everybody’s best I’d rather go around and spend all my time With an easygoing style and a peace of mind I follow my heart with every step I take This feeling in my gut will show where to go every day When I’ve become a slave to my passions And I’ll be OK You know I’ve always wanted to feel free You know I’ve always wanted to feel free I’d rather go around and spend all my time With an easygoing style and a peace of mind Just follow my heart with every step I take Say goodbye to this whole charade I’d rather go around and spend all my time With an easygoing style and a peace of mind Just follow my heart with every step I take This feeling in my gut will show where to go every day When I’ve become a slave to my passions I’ll be OK?

Science 03:45
Thanks for all your wisdom
 The enlightenment you provide
I like the things you say even though we don’t know if they’re right all the time You’ve never read a book but
 That’s nothing you need anyway
Because your overconfidence is all you need when you say what you say You just believe in what you want to see until you’re blinded by self-reliance
You don’t give a shit about facts from geeks in white coats and something they call science You’re in a panel of experts In a digital world of blue And we can ask you anything because you know everything and you don’t need to think it through You just believe in what you want to see until you’re blinded by self-reliance
You don’t give a shit about facts from geeks in white coats and something they call science When you meet the science monster You'd better run away! You just believe in what you want to see until you’re blinded by self-reliance
You don’t give a shit about facts from geeks in white coats and something they call science

This is the story of two people who fell in love It’s always so damn beautiful when it happens In all its glory, an ultimate happiness That lasts forever, always She went on a journey to find out if there was more She longed for life beyond the confines of her home Then she met an attorney, the most handsome man she’d ever seen He was wealthy and full of energy And he said: ”I love and honor you every day, I promise from now on I’ll worship you as long as you obey” What I tell is a tale as old as time, ever just the same But I wonder if she’ll ever understand that she found herself a little trickster He looks so stunning when he crosses boundaries He’s breaking rules and disrupting authorities He’s the most cunning and the most clever guy I’ve ever seen But his ego doesn’t care for empathy A master of disguise, he lies and he deceives And he said: ”I love and honor you every day, I promise from now on I’ll worship you as long as you obey” What I tell is a tale as old as time, ever just the same But I wonder if she wants to understand that she found herself a little trickster True as it can be forever Unexpectedly together He took her by surprise When he said: ”I love and honor you every day, I promise from now on I’ll worship you as long as you obey” What I tell is a tale as old as time, ever just the same But I wonder if she wants to understand that she found herself a little trickster

Hello dear citizens of the state of liberty It’s the perfect place for the human race and for you and me And those who don’t agree are the ones that we commit If you’ve got an opinion in this dominion you’re in deep shit You can talk about what you want But if we really don’t like what you say We lock you away It’s not for you to castigate So if you dispute us and behave like a renegade We lock you away Hello dear dissident, why do you carry on? You’re under house arrest, ’cause you need to rest ’til you’ve come around We give you therapy and when the treatment is complete An apathetic mind is all that you can find and all that you need You can talk about what you want But if we really don’t like what you say We lock you away It’s not for you to castigate So if you dispute us and behave like a renegade We lock you away We need to protect and save our population From the irresponsible world outside We’re disconnected from the toxic information All the propaganda they provide You can talk about what you want But if we really don’t like what you say We lock you away You can talk about what you want But if we really don’t like what you say We lock you away It’s not for you to castigate So if you dispute us and behave like a renegade We lock you away

I think I took it all for granted The freedom I had and everything I planned for before And I wanted more Now I’m stuck in this grey existence And I can’t even tell if I care at all anymore I think I’m just bored ’Cause there’s a future in my mind Baby, you and I Traveling through the sky I feel like... We’re going back to sanity Come on now, get on up, back me up! Utopia is getting closer, don’t you think? But you keep telling me We have never been there at all You can climb but you’re gonna fall ’Cause we always fuck it up anyhow, but I’m holding on to my old dream That we’re gonna get back there finally I’m longing for a new sensation But you’re afraid to fall for some sweet temptation again But you’re the captain, my friend ’Cause there’s a future in my mind Baby, you and I Traveling through the sky I feel like... We’re going back to sanity Come on now, get on up, back me up! Utopia is getting closer, don’t you think? But you keep telling me We have never been there at all You can climb but you’re gonna fall ’Cause we always fuck it up anyhow, but I’m holding on to my old dream That we’re gonna get back there finally

I believe I’m pretty collected I got my feet on the ground But I’m sick of the madness everywhere And tired of being pushed around I just wanna be who I am and I just wanna feel what I feel I don’t care if I am a castaway When nothing here seems to be real Don’t wanna be like everybody else Don’t wanna live like anyone you know Don’t wanna do what’s already been made And I wanna put on a blinding show So I think I should start to build now I really think I should start to build now Yeah I think I should start to build on what I call My own unique reality, my own unique reality I believe it will be fine Thinking about it now, making everything so alive My own unique reality, you know I’ve always wanted to feel free I bring my family and I’m gonna stay there forever I’m feeling a little confused I’m feeling a little unsound I think I’m just sick of it all I’m tired of being pushed around So I think I should start to build now I really think I should start to build now Yeah I think I should start to build on what I call My own unique reality, my own unique reality I believe it will be fine Thinking about it now, making everything so alive My own unique reality, it’s where we’re going back to sanity I bring my family and I’m gonna stay there forever Come on! Let’s do it! Let’s build it up then we move in Come on! I want surroundings that I can cope with Come on! Let’s do it! Let’s build it up then we move in Come on! Before I’ve come to the end of my rope Let’s go! My own unique reality, my own unique reality I believe it will be fine Thinking about it now, making everything so alive In my own unique reality, there’s not a single false dichotomy But maybe it’s just a dream and I’m gonna stay here forever

Do you remember all the stupid things we said In a time when we still relied on love and common sense Upon a hill where we used to dream the days away
About us and the world that we would save I told you everything I felt deep in my heart We shared our thoughts with everyone without a doubt So perfectly naive to enjoy the life we’d got But years went by and now I’m feeling lost Did we fall in love too young, too easily? Did we have to tear each other’s hearts out so carelessly when we’d lost the thrill? We were far from perfect but I really miss those days when you used to speak your heart out to me I’m thinking back to when we truly believed in peace In a world of hope with justice and true democracy But I can’t think too much anymore ’cause I’m gonna lose my mind In a world where the blind’s leading the blind Did we fall in love too young, too easily? Did we have to tear each other’s hearts out so carelessly when we’d lost the thrill? We were far from perfect but I really miss those days when you used to speak your heart out to me Did we fall in love too young, too easily? Did we have to tear each other’s hearts out so carelessly when we’d lost the thrill? We were far from perfect but I really miss those days when you used to speak your heart out to me And I always did that to you too, sweetheart, you see, yeah we always used to speak our hearts out to be free I never care about my own thoughts Sometimes I wonder if I’ve even lost the ability to think ’Cause the only thing that matters Is what other people say And what they think of me In this superficial society

about

Superficial Society is CLOUDS OF CLARITY's first album, a loose concept album based on Theander’s own thoughts about the modern world, various things that’s going on in our society and how we react to it as human beings. The utterly complex and mystifying human mind has been the main lyrical influence.
